Hopefully, by the time you’re reading this, the hate speech filled tribute page for Micah Xavier Johnson, who murdered five Dallas police officers in cold blood,…
The page has amassed over 1,200 fans in just a matter of hours and seems to be gaining fans at an exponential pace now.
The page, like all pages on Facebook, was setup anonymously and it’s impossible to find out who is behind it. However, it is obviously a tribute page to the criminal who was killed by police after a long standoff.
The page is posting a constant stream of posts designed to cause racial divide and incite violence against innocent people.
The profile picture for the page shows Johnson in his military uniform. The cover photo is an AR-15 rifle. However, it is still unclear if one was used in the attacks. During a press conference the Dallas Mayor and Police Chief both used the term AR-15, however it is unclear if they were using it as a generic term for a military-looking semi-auto rifle or actually the civilian version of the M4 carbine. CBS News previously reported that law enforcement sources close to the investigation claimed the suspect used an antique SKS rifle.
Fortunately, many of the people commenting and interacting with the page are condemning the posts and the page’s existence.
Facebook has seemingly not taken any action against the page yet, despite numerous people saying they have reported various posts and comments.
Johnson used multiple firearms to shoot and kill five Dallas police officers on Thursday night and wound seven others during a protest against police shootings that took place in Louisiana and Minnesota.
Johnson was a United States Army reservist who served one tour of duty in Afghanistan. According to several media sources, he was a follower of racist groups and pages on social media that regularly called for violence against innocent people.
Johnson’s motivations seem to be racist in nature. According to the Dallas Police Chief, “The suspect said he was upset about Black Lives Matter. He said he was upset about the recent police shootings of black suspects. He said he was upset at white people. The suspect stated he wanted to kill white people, especially white officers.”
Johnson was killed by police using a robot armed with an explosive device that was sent into the parking garage where Johnson had barricaded himself.
