Australian model Turia Pitt is a humanitarian, athlete and lover of life. While competing in an ultra marathon back in 2011, Pitt was trapped in a raging brush fire that she was unable to escape. The inferno nearly took Pitt’s life, but in a moment of surrender she squeezed herself in between two rocks and waited for the inferno to pass…
“It just got hotter and hotter and hotter and I couldn’t stand it anymore so I jumped up and tried to run and that’s when I got burned,” she said.
By the time she was finally rescued, Pitt had sustained 3rd-degree burns to 65% of her body that forced doctors to amputate 4 fingers on her left hand and her right thumb.
But while she was in intensive care, her boyfriend Michael went out to buy a diamond ring. He quit his job to care for her full-time and has been by her side ever since.Pitt spent the next two years in the hospital. She had to wear a compression mask for two years to help with the healing.
“I married her soul, her character, and she’s the only woman that will continue to fulfill my dreams.”Michael was recently asked if there was ever a time he considered leaving her for someone else… his response melted hearts all over the world.
Amen to that.
