3-Year-Old Faces Her Instructor And Wins Over The Hearts Of The Internet

Does it get any cuter than this?

In February, Premier Martial Arts Leeds uploaded a video of their youngest pupil reciting her student creed – with the help of an instructor. It didn’t take long for three-year-old Sophie to win over the hearts of the internet. The minute-long clip was viewed over 400,000 times on their Facebook page and a whopping 10 million times on YouTube. Viewers from around the world were bowled over by the adorable toddler.

Premier Martial Arts’ student creed aligns with their vision to empower individuals by teaching self-defense and “upholding important values like courtesy, patience, respect, self-control and integrity.” So not only will Sophie get lessons in becoming a valuable member of society, she’ll also learn self-defense and stay fit while doing so. Sounds like an appealing package deal – and viewers thought so too.

Sprinkled amongst the many comments about how overwhelmingly cute the video was, a number of parents chimed in to ask how/where they could sign their children up for taekwondo and martial arts classes. There were also a few comments from people who’d already seen the positive effects of taekwondo for kids. “They have changed my grandson in such a short time, respect, attitude and manners,” one comment read.

As mentioned above, taekwondo (and other similar activities like martial arts and jiu-jitsu) is an excellent exercise for children and adults alike. Kids taekwondo classes are especially beneficial because they help form healthy habits and instill good values in children while they’re young and impressionable. An article from GlobalPost highlighted some of those benefits of taekwondo for kids, which included increased self-confidence, better concentration, and good discipline.

Below you can watch the clip of Sophie that tugged at the heartstrings of the internet. We can only assume that it will have the same effect on you.
